'We are tomorrow's future - and it's in OUR hands!'

Hey, I'm David McIntyre, I'm 15 years old and I enjoy listening to music, socialising with my friends and taking part in sports like, tennis and cricket.

I've lived in Shipley for the last 5 years, and in that time I have noticed that many young people believe that their views and opinions aren't listened to and that they have no one to voice their issues and concerns to.

I hope that by becoming your MYP I can change this as well as negative perceptions of young people. It is essential that our views are heard as we are the future of tomorrow!

I feel this is an important issue because young people are being branded with this stereotypical image, that all young people are 'hoody hooligans' and carry knives.

I believe this is mainly down to the media as they are branding ALL young people, when it is only a SMALL minority of young people.

I want to change the negative image of young people by involving the media more in the achievements and positive schemes that involve young people. By doing this a whole new image of young people would be shown.

I believe that I am the right person to be elected. I am hard-working and committed to fighting for what I believe in, not just for my own beliefs but yours too. Put your faith in me and I will do all that is in my power to resolve the problems that matter to YOU! As 'YOUR problems are MY problems - and together we can solve them!'
